He doesn't have direct control, but he's got some power as far as the general climate is concerned. If the economy is optimistic, more jobs will be created. And no, I don't mean trickle down. I mean optimistic as in hoping for future revenue that encourages job creation.

Go figure how Dump with his bragging about being the master of debt would fit in.

People really only remember this when it's president's they like in the white house and the economy is bad/vice versa. Chairman of the federal reserve is probably the single person with the most power in that regard, but mostly it's just the market doing whatever the market does.

Trump is the worst on the economy in my opinion. He literally wants to start trade wars with China and Mexico, two of our largest trading partners. Protectionism is a proven failure, if there is a proven failure when it comes to economics. Your normal president doing normal president stuff has limited effects on the economy. However potentially he can have serious negative effects on it. My biggest concern about Trump that everybody seems to ignore because it's more fun to scream 'racism, nuclear weapons, racism!'

 A Telegraph investigation earlier this year revealed that Mr Trump gave his approval to the deal despite it - according to independent experts - containing several ‘red flags' suggesting the deal might be improper. Moreover, this newspaper revealed it was written into the deal agreement that Mr Trump’s consent was required in order for it to go ahead.

Of course, all of this is far too technical for the average ( or below average ) Drumpfuck to understand.
