However, i can almost guarantee that there are ships belonging to nations all around the world, named after ships that participated in insane shit. Unless you're asking the entire world to stop reusing ship names (Which is pretty standard practice), you're not exactly making an entirely fair point.
I'm not saying you're entirely wrong, because you've presented valid points, but it'd be silly to only enforce such a rule on one nation.

I don't believe sailors from most of the world's warships had ever committed more than what would amount to petty crimes against foreign civilians or against other sailors from different navies.   Sailors committing major war crimes, especially those condoned by the nation in whose names they served, probably besmirched the names of only a small portion of all warship names ever used throughout the 20th century.
