What motivates theists to come here?

Theists come here to learn.

Because Christianity can't offer direct evidence for its claims, so believers relies on convincing other As a substitute for evidence to support their own "faith"

As far as i'm aware, it's because they think they can convert us to their particular brand of bullshit, for the most part. Some are decent though.

I'm not interested why the crazies come here - they're crazy.

I'm far more interested why the nicer, more reasonable ones do. And how they can still believe the bullshit they believe, even after spending some time on the forums and appearing to be more reasonable/normal than the crazier theists. That's a mystery to me, really.

A very few come here for honest interaction and exchange of ideas, KP comes to mind.

The rest, I'm not sure, misguided compassion, delusion of grandeur, mentally unstable?

On a mission from god (move over Jake and Elwood)?

"Holy" desperation is cultivated in religion. Judgment day and possible hell for non believers, so its our duty to spread the Gods will and attain heaven together(they think).

Motivation is innocent, but words from believers like "your life is empty, surrender to Gods will" are too idealistic or hard to live by.

You said you're a theist. Why do you come here?

Ideas testing. Now I see that people wish for permanent death, EVEN if there indeed a God who would offer immortality for his loyal servants.

That strikes me as somewhat off the mark.  Atheists (as atheists) don't exactly wish for permanent death.  We simply accept it as the inevitable result of being alive.  We reject the notion of immortality as a fairy story dreamed up by people who aren't prepared to accept the realities of basic physics and biology.

That being said, there is a POV in which  ALL living things are, in a sense, immortal - Sagan's 'star stuff'.  Every atom and subatomic particle of your being is coeval with the instantiation of the universe - the bits that make you 'you' are either original atoms, or the products of these original atoms.  The oxygen molecules that keep you going have been breathed by uncountable trillions of organisms that existed before you came along, and the decay that will occur after your death with become part of trillions more individual organism, and this happy state will continue at least until the heat death of the universe.

In that sense - and that sense only - is the concept of immortality in any wise coherent.
