I guess God had his hands full over in Rio...
Not posting this to try and bum out everyone else's day. It's just...as an atheist (and a mom), I don't know how to emotionally cope with stuff like this...the senselessness of these vulnerable little beings brought into existence without consent only to suffer; experience pain and brutality, and then die shortly after. I suppose it's no different than brutal deaths of any other species' young in the wild, but...this shit keeps me up at night...I have zero coping mechanisms for this. [emoji53]
Well it's not a murder in my books. It's at worse a manslaughter, and may not even be that. There was a case in Australia of a toddler that died in front of a toilet, and his/her brother (3 or 4 years old IIRC) was the one to find him dead. The autopsy was unable to find the cause of the death of the child, and so the toddler was interviewed by specialists - but nothing was revealed. So it was ruled as a sudden infant death, unpreventable. Several years later, the kid made an off the cuff comment about his dead sibling, and revealed that their head was in the toilet bowel before he pulled it out. What's interesting is that he even remembered that after so long - but from his point of view he didn't understand that no one else knew how he found his sibling. It is not known whether the child was already dead when he found him (although that's the most probable thing), or if it was unconscious and died after being yanked out (the autopsy should have found water in the lungs if the kid drowned, but perhaps he suffocated or for some other reason he died). Anyway, the world is truly a dangerous place for the very young, and sometimes deaths happen that just aren't anyone's fault.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK
"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
