RE: Favourite Semi-Obscure Music
And the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Mike Bloomfield strokin' the strings --

And now for a couple of Texas guitarists, not the sort of blues people have come to expect. Bugs was a legend down here going back thirty years, 'cause the sonofabitch could play:

And then there's Eric Johnson, who is certainly a Texan but still perhaps an alien:

Thankyou Alex for driving me nucking futs trying to work out what that song is.
I've been listening to Bach for nearly an hour now, particularly the songs in D minor.
It's hard to work the song out without a tempo, or the length of notes and rests, or which ones are which octaves.
One thing I did discover is that you can download some songs on youtube and watch the original manuscript at the same time.
This gives me a greater appreciation, not just for the composer, but also for the players reading music that is sometimes no better than doctor's scribble.
It really is quite fascinating. :-)

If I motivated you to listen to B for an hour, my mission is accomplished!

Should I tell you or do you want to keep guessing? I'll give you a hint: it's a very important theme, not from an obscure cantata Smile

It's the first main theme of The Art of the Fugue and the beginning of the slightly modified repetition a fifth higher.

All 3 bookmarked. Because it's you. I'm sure I'll enjoy.

@c172

I fucking loved that song "Beautiful Blue Sky" by Ought... that song is damn awesome. Never heard it before. Thank you!

You know they've done a live performance on KEXP?

Not heard or watched this myself yet but this is also on my to-do list:
