How I deal with no afterlife
#41
RE: How I deal with no afterlife
I think most of us can agree, from an atheistic perspective, we are not "special". For to be special implies purpose or external thought. As we do not believe in external thought, outside of human thought, nothing can be special. Things have specialties as to fit into various niches, but that is not inherent, only developed.

Let me ask this: will a Mercedes Benz live on past its prime? Or will rust and decay settle in, if not maintained?

We know that no physical object lasts forever, yet we have no problem ascribing value to those things. The value and the "specialness" is contingent on the idea that nothing lasts. That what is now will not be tomorrow.

So, simply that something does not last forever, doesn't make it trash. On the contrary! Transience is what establishes value.

The way to deal with no afterlife is to realise that you had no beforelife, you have been in that exact same position previously, so what's the issue?

@SMG, you have no reason to feel this way Smile You are created in the image of god. Because we are image bearers of god, we have a perfect standard to strive for. Sadly there is no rightous man, no not 1. Because of this, Jesus took on the sin of the world so we could be forgiven.

Oil and water do not mix, we can not abide in gods perfect kingdom even commiting 1 sin.

All i would suggest is to pour your heart out, tell Jesus everything that is deep within you, even any anger you have with him, the world, yourself, let it all out.

Dude, there's a time and place for comedy.

No so fast Brewer!  You're not out of the woods.  I said you're special, not saved.

So the special ones still get fried unless they step and fetch. Nice "all everything" deity ya got there.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Well, it's true that if you want to be saved it's his way or no way, but he doesn't force us. He doesn't drag anyone to be with him. My choice is to follow him.
