But that's the part I already agree with as per my OP!

The biggest health benefit to veganism is that vegans have to pay VERY close attention to what they eat.  Think about it: when I go to work each morning, I always stop at a gas station and pick up one of their hot sandwiches for breakfast.  Or a donut.  Or something.  If you're a vegan, you can't exactly do that.  You could get a salad, sure, but when it comes to processed foods, you have to see whether it has animal products in it or not.  It's easier for them to just eat fresh, non-processed foods, which makes a vegan diet healthier.

Also, the average American diet has way too much fat and salt in it.  Vegan diets, on the other hand, avoid a lot of that fat because most fat comes from animal products and salt is often used to preserve meat, which also lowers their salt intake.

Chicken is actually one of the healthiest meats there is, right next to fish.  They tend to be very low fat meats, especially when compared to beef and pork.  So saying there's no health benefit to chicken is ridiculous.  Plant protein isn't bad, but your body isn't able to process it as effeciently as animal protein.  This is why protein will always be an issue for vegans.  Excluding milk from a diet is also a terrible idea, healthwise, anyway, because milk is probably the most nutrient dense food there is.

If a vegan diet were totally healthy, they wouldn't need to take B12 supplements. Just sayin'.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

Protein is extremely important and actually aids in weight loss. As long as the vegan gets enough protein, I'd say it can be a healthy diet. I like it because I think it's very noble.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Btw, someone who eats only fish as their animal product is called "pescatarian." There is a word for it. Smile

That's like saying the biggest safety benefit to being a zookeeper is you have to pay very close attention to what the lions are doing.

Quote:A 1999 meta-analysis of five studies comparing vegetarian and non-vegetarian mortality rates in Western countries found that in comparison with regular meat-eaters, mortality from ischemic heart disease was 34% lower in pescetarians, 34% lower in ovo-lacto vegetarians, 26% lower in vegans and 20% lower in occasional meat-eaters.

Yeah, yeah.....
