Honor between soldiers/fighters?
|
And I'll repeat, the martyr complex in some of these people is ridiculous.
“Love is the only bow on Life’s dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher.
It is the air and light of every heart – builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth. It was the first to dream of immortality. It fills the world with melody – for music is the voice of love. Love is the magician, the enchanter, that changes worthless things to Joy, and makes royal kings and queens of common clay. It is the perfume of that wondrous flower, the heart, and without that sacred passion, that divine swoon, we are less than beasts; but with it, earth is heaven, and we are gods.” - Robert. G. Ingersoll RE: Honor between soldiers/fighters?

I feel like we should just cut straight to the chase, Op...what are some things on your approved list of things in which one can feel pride, lol? What with a job well done not being among them, or overcoming adversity, or ones own fears and self doubt.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I'm leaving the VA facility in Austin as I type; I've been posting from here all morning, between 2 1/2 hours of goddamned runaround. Don't get me started ... You're still making the mistake of thinking that I'm the one who chooses what you're allowed to feel prideful about. I guess that's the whole solider hive mind thinking still at work. I'm not your commanding officer, soldier, you can feel proud about whatever you want. Some people feel proud that they were born with blond hair. Doesn't mean I have to agree with the logic behind that. Nor does that mean that you have to care about whether or not I agree with said logic.

Better than paying for it and getting the same runaround, Thump, lol.

I doubt there's much logic in pride, Op....seems like an irrelevant criterion for judgement.

I suppose that depends on how logical of a thinker you are.
Once again, I'm not your commanding officer, nor am I your judge. You can feel pride in whatever you like. If being a soldier allows you to feel fulfilled, more power to you I suppose. Why are you so concerned with understanding my criterion for what one should be prideful about? You don't need my approval.

OFC I don't need your approval, you don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about, lol?
