When your significant other threatens suicide

In lack of a real mental health forum, I've decided to place this here in the off topic section of a philosophy forum. Perhaps it should be moved to a more specific category if in fact one can allow themselves to believe they are not going crazy when their partner in marriage says this. It becomes a question of philosophy - personal ethics and beliefs - when such a simple but incredibly charged situation arises a few times.
I would love to hear everyone's input.
I believe that philosophy is the art of putting yourself in someone else's shoes.

When you say threatens, are you suggesting they are blackmailing me? Or just expressing their hopelessness?

This forum got a bit suicide heavy randomly. I suppose it is the season.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.

Not enough details to make an informed comment.
I take a 10W.
Edit: Is this just click bait?
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Rather than philosophy, I'd look to concrete action: therapy and care if she's earnest, telling her to get the hell out if she's doing it as a gambit.

It depends entirely on the context.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
