Oh I'm so glad someone acknowledged this! I felt like my heart was breaking. I know MASH was already on reruns for two decades by the time I got into it but it has been my favorite since I was little. I have MASH clothing, wallet, the whole dvd collection, and on the back of my truck I have stickers that say MASH 4077. Every time an actor from it dies it hurts and I know when Alda dies I will be a mess but the Father was one of my favorite characters. He was fictional but he showed how being one religion didn't mean you couldn't love, help, and support those of other faiths. How many times did a character say 'I'm not Catholic' and he said 'that's alright'? No one could have played him better (and yes I've seen the first guy, I wasn't impressed :p)
