The only thing I noticed about this incident was the victim being mentally handicapped. I didn't go looking for his skin color, since in lights of what has happened that seemed entirely unimportant. The mentally handicapped part stuck out like a sore thumb, since this is happening pretty frequently, without the perpetrators being stupid enough to televise the act.

I think hate crimes have a harsher penalty and are considered more serious. (correct me if I'm wrong)

If someone tries to deny a crime being a hate crime, I can see how some could take it as an indirect defense of the act/perpetrator, since it makes the crime less terrible.

Sorry. This doesn't really answer my question. The media downplaying this (if they do) doesn't really explain why Bella and that weird guy think people on this forum will actually defend people who beat and ridiculed a man, let alone a mentally handicapped man.

Perhaps Bella and the weird guy imagine that's what they would do, if the attackers were Drumpf supporters? Or at the very least, they'd call it "a false flag operation", staged by "libtards", in order to smear the good name of nationalists.

Also - persecution complex is all the rage among kids right now and right wing sympathisers don't get enough opportunities, to paint themselves as victims and their political opponents as monsters.

Personally - I find it quite sad, that some people have the need to milk a horrible crime, for political reasons, but hey - I suppose they need to grab every chance they get...

I didn't watch the video. I only read what our news reported, and that was group attacking mentally handicapped man and putting the vid on Facebook. So I would have filed that under hate crime anyway, since I assumed it was because of them feeling superior to the guy they were beating.

I imagine they think it because the MSM perpetuates and seems to have bias for, a lot of the opinions many people hold on this forum.

Let's call it the 'left wing'. A rather broad spectrum and by no means am I lumping everyone into a box. But the MSM is pretty damn left wing to the point of gross stupidity (CNN). Rather like a lot of people on this forum, I hate to say (I don't).

Hence the connection between the two. The narratives are the same so it's not all that wild to suspect the same response.

Well, newsflash. I don't care about the skin color or origin of the victims. If someone beats someone else to a pulp, I'm not playing favorites. It's always despicable. And the fact that news of this incident travelled some 1000 miles doesn't exactly point to the media downplaying the incident. Not every beating, murder even, makes international headlines.
