Adoption of mentally impaired babies

What do they do if they don't find a family? I mean do they just let their child go into the system?

Obviously I have nothing against adoption--my daughter and her wife adopted three wonderful kids. But the system is pretty full. I'd have to question the motivations of the parents. I mean--are they really looking out for the best interest of the child? I mean you say they're financially able to take care of the child--are they setting up a trust fund for the child, to make sure it's taken care of? Or are they just trying to ease their own conscience?

Today children with mental disabilities are keep separate from other kids, my niece works in the public school system here and she works in the class for the mentally disabled, our school systems have become more compassionate towards children with disabilities.
A good mother would also protect her child from such bullying, love is a powerful thing and shouldn't be taken lightly.
You say you wouldn't do that to your kid, I ask what kid, you would have relegated it to a trash can. You wouldn't have a child to love and protect, you would never know the joy of a child that happens to see the world through different eyes, loving eyes,trusting eyes.

It may sound callous to you but that's my opinion on the matter. And you can always make another one that won't be mentally or otherwise disabled.
As for the schools - ok, you'll enlist it in a school for disabled kids but you still can't protect it from everything and everyone. There will always be someone who'll bully the kid for not being normal.
May be the fact that I'll never have kids makes me so... callous on the matter but that's the way it is. Still, it doesn't mean I think any less of you. You asked for opinion and I posted mine. I always say what I think.

I only asked whether a mother's selfishness is worth spawning a kid that will always be finger pointed as "the different one" or even "the retarded one" and will basically be regarded by people only to mock at it. I doubt that there's a mother who wouldn't want her kid to be normal and not to be mocked at by other people.

Catholic Lady didn't write that it was me, GC. She said she did not want to address the subject of abortion, but I did, why, because my wife and I have taken into our home a young lady who was born with a mental disability compounded by schizophrenia at the age of 30. She is the greatest delight, she is the best thing to come into my life in many years. Can she be trying and frustrating of coarse, but that is a minor inconvenience compared to the joy we receive. If her mother had aborted this child I would have missed out on one of the greatest joys in my life. When we have her in public people do not make fun of her and if they did she would probably laugh along with them because she wouldn't understand what they were doing. If someone was to do that in front of me I can promise you I would take embarrassment to the next level for them, they would think twice before doing something like that again to anyone. The stories I could tell people about her and how people have accepted her and love her. Abortion is not an option and neither is love, you don't do the first and you give the second unconditionally.

What diminished life, she enjoys life more than you ever will. She doesn't feel bad about herself and even though you think she is less than human she would love you from the get go. Who are you to be judging anyone, what right do you have to determine her happiness and quality of life, none.Just because she hasn't the ability to insult people doesn't mean she is diminished, I personally call that a blessing, yes not knowing how to hate those who would think of her as something less than human gives her one up on you who believes he's a gift to mankind. You know what I am seeing in you jealousy, that's right you're jealous of a wonderful lady because you can't be a kind, loving, caring, giving, thoughtful, nice, happy, joyful human being like her. Someone should take a bag and write idiot all over it tie it over your head and place you in a room full of steel poles and a mad Rottweiler and maybe just maybe you'll beat some sense into your head.
