questions for a christian

So basically the truth is the word. The Christian Bible. The bible actually contains a lot of really really  awesome understandings and advice on how to live.

What do you think about the fact that a lot of those "awesome understandings and advice on how to live" are actually plagiarized from older Asian philosophers?

That's just the possibility for our rock to be in the exact space it is from the sun in order to hold life. this is not including the tilt or wide array of material on the periodic table or the gravity/ size of earth or the atmosphere or placement of our sun in our galaxy. An argument for this is that there are different kinds of life able to be formed on different planets they are just micro. the thing is. we havent found any micro. so thats a theory.

but yeah im sure its all just an accident.

also I wasn't born christian. I could be an atheist. My location is certainly on point for that.

Oh, you're one of those Christians. Never mind.

In this PC culture we live in now, women are all uppity and think they can just say whatever they want, too. Thank goodness the Bible gives us advice on that, too.

Just chock full of solid advice on how to live your life.

And don't forget the thoughtcrime. Remember, thinking about something is just as bad as doing it.

Science just found out that the protons and electrons were so hot when the big bang happened that literally everything was white. Then gradually they cooled down and the light and dark separated. This is what Genesis has said for thousands of years.

No, what you have there is a Texas Sharpshooter Fallacy.  I've actually read  chapter 1 of Genesis, in several English versions and in my admittedly not-all-that-advanced Hebrew.  It bears very little resemblance indeed to modern physical cosmology, and rather more of a resemblance to Jewish mysticism such as Kabbalah, with its upper realms of the void and light above the Tree of Life.

I don't consider videos a good source of information, and generally don't watch them.  I prefer text sources from mainstream science journals.

And if it wasn't we wouldn't be sitting here having a discussion about it.    We evolved for our ecosystem.  No gods needed.

And these tubeworms evolved for deep ocean vents.  They didn't need gods either.

Lighthouse : How do you reconcile these two verses :

Deuteronomy 20 -10:14 - "10 When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. 11 If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you. 12 If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. 13 When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. 14 As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the Lord your God gives you from your enemies. "

And : "Thou shall not kill".

Also , in the verse from Deuteronomy God seems to be advocating slavery.

Do you believe in the bible portions backed by science, or science portions backed by bible?

False

I would suggest that you read up regarding the Habitable Zones for stars and idenfified exoplanets before you stick your foot in it again.[/quote]

Your bible does not contain one reference to either protons, electrons, or the big bang.
Quote:did you look at my sources? they did exist with the big bang.

my bible doesn't reference something that didn't have a name or even could be thought of through the natural senses. spoiler alert. they didn't have technology to see protons or electrons when genesis was written.

and it does reference the big bang. the starting point of the universe. the beginning. How are you about to just disregard all the facts i laid down?
1) The condensation of matter took place some time after the Big Bang, I suggest some reading up of the matter, eg. A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking.

2) You might want to familiarise yourself with what the Bible actually states in Genesis because you seem to be at odds with it.

Aoi, do we all agree that lighthouse is the type of christian we want. You know, the cherry picking type from a first world country that hasn't really read the bible. These types are my favourites because they can't really take it seriously enough to kill for it.
Unless of course they cherry picked the wrong bits! But then, they probably weren't real café Christians to start with.

Such a clusterfuck isn't it?

RE: questions for a christian
No one is born Christian, or any religion. It has to be taught. The question wasn't whether you were born a Christian, but whether you were raised by Christian parents, so that Christianity was the first exposure to an explanation for life, the universe, and everything that you were exposed to.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
