We definitely should. New York and California combined account for nearly a quarter of our national economy. We've suppressed separatist movements for far....far less, lol.

Yeah, you know, the whole "rural vs city" thing, in all of it's variations and with any given archetype (say, coastal elites vs salt of the earth interiors)... seems silly. The "rurals" do know that the cityfolk are paying for their diabetes pills....subsidizing every facet of their lives, right? Just to be "fair and balanced"..the cityfolk understand that they are subsidizing those rurals because they refuse to or cannot afford to pay a living wage to the people who feed them...who make their very existence possible?
A simple solution presents itself. Urbanites, send more money. Necks..stop being ungrateful bitches. Urbanites....stop being ungrateful bitches...necks, demand more for your products. Ah, all the world made right.

Yeah, I'm the one who mentioned it. Moderate gun ownership among Democrats doesn't translate into gun-ownership friendly (read: 2nd Amendment absolutist) political rhetoric. That there isn't a Lincoln in the bunch on your side of the political fence was pretty much a foregone conclusion.

We're long overdue for a revolution. A civil war we could do without. I'm a little nervous our government would side with the racists this time around.

If so they would be shooting themselves in the foot. Considering that they would take 21.4% of the U.S. economy with them, and that both states pay much more in federal taxes than they receive in federal funding, it would be interesting to see how the rest of the country fared if they left. Unfortunately, as someone not living in either state I'm afraid the results would be catastrophic. Not that I think that New York and California could win a civil war. In the Civil War the North won because that is where the industrial and economic power were. In the case of a California versus the rest of the country battle it's not so clear. California's production is high tech, but not very militarily based. New York is about financing not production. But regardless of outcome the defection of either state would kill the U.S. economy.

Wrong. Most people are not above being racist, or at least condoning racism, when it can be convincingly represented to them that there is benefit to them personally in being racist or condoning racism.
