Melancholy

RE: Melancholy
When I get like that I take a look around... And soon think to myself snap out of it. I'm a lucky man, I'm still here enjoying the planet.

I suppose there could be several potential suspects.

Do you feel as though you are missing or missing out on something?

Perhaps he is just pining for the sweet embrace of Jesus and longing for a better place?

There is always that. I would also consider companionship, profession or a life's work, bucket list accomplishments, financial goals, as well as spirituality. Wasn't looking to proselytize anyone, I attempt to reserve that for the Christian based threads.

Go buy yourself some distractions...

I'd say it's a midlife crisis...

Maybe you are right. Perhaps a sports car would help.

Are you married Kusa?

Yes. 5 kids and only one left at home. I'm 47 years old. I used to be high speed , low drag but now I'm low speed high drag.

No it's not that. My life is pretty good. I think I'm just getting old.

You and I are close in age. Have a friend/coworker that describes something remarkably similar to you. I would describe him as a mans man and a generally happy person. We have worked together for over 20 years and I noticed changes in him and his demeanor over the last 2 years. Near the end of last year it was discovered he had extremely low levels of testosterone.

He is being treated for low testosterone currently. It seems to be having a positive effect on him.

It may be something to look into.

Kusa. I can relate mate. It's pretty normal. It's just day to day life...
Just find little things to have as hobbies, etc.
If you're happy with your personal life, the rest is just finding other distractions...

My hobbies are computers (playing plenty of games at the moment), and of course there's working on the old mustang to fill in my time if I'm bored ... Plus other improvements around the house....
If you're not on the tools, get on them!

Yeah melancholy is definitely easier to 'snap out of' than depression.

Is my compulsive masturbation a sign of low or high testosterone? I have been known to do it as many as 8 times a day. Is that a testosterone thing?
