Fare enough. I only have direct experience with the US and depend on other people's stories. My sister has little good to say about Canada healthcare, but that another discussion about access and efficiency if you have non resident status. (4 years in Calgary while her husband worked for Shell).
The bold: That is at the heart of the matter. The constant negatives about the US get old, at least for me. Yeah, the US may not be the best at all things, it has flaws, not perfect. That being said, I think (hope) you'd admit, in part, that the US must get a lot of things right also.
And here is what rubs me wrong, this forum seems to have more than it's fair share of US haters (maybe hater is to strong, but it's close). So now the question I would pose is why? Does the forum population give equal time to Canada is shit because....., Austria is shit because......, Britain is shit because......
Or is this more a case of sour grapes? Is it more personally fulfilling for people (you, abaris, Mr Abba, Min, to name a few) to run things down than to prop things up. Personally, I can't be that person. Well I can, but I don't like it and would prefer not to. What do you (the collective) prefer and do your posts support your preference?
I live in the US and I fucking hate what is going on. I don't hate my country, but I'm sadly disappointed in about half the population. I don't see the leaders of other countries taking to twitter in the middle of the night and spewing batshit crazy ass bullshit. Trump and his alt facts minions are a direct reflection of the average American psyche and it's truly horrendous and frightening. So much for enlightened civilization. In my opinion, any criticism from abroad is justified.
I'm happy to pat ourselves on the back when I think we do right, but I wont turn a blind eye when we devolve into the mental equivalent of monkeys throwing their own shit at the wall. From what I can tell, I'm not going to have much nice to say about murrica for the next four years.

What the fuck are we supposed to "prop up?" We have a president who is a total batshit crazy scumbag. An EPA director who think the environment is something to trash for profit. An Education Secretary who hates public education. A vice president who can't wait for fucking jesus to come back killing everyone. An Interior Secretary who wants to clear cut the national forests. And a HUD Secretary who thinks slaves were "immigrants," among others. One can hardly wait for his supreme court nominees to start issuing rulings to drag this country back to the 1750's.
Feel free to delude yourself that everything is fucking wonderful if you like. Right now I see us on our way to third-world nation status and cheering it on does no good at all.

Yemen, South Sudan and Somalia are well known and their combatants motives well documented.
Nigeria is notoriously corrupt.
I can't see any aid sent actually arriving with the intended recipients.

I don't think everything is wonderful. I didn't vote for the WLB (your new fond term). I haven't supported one of the actions he as taken. I do think we got exactly what our political process and political parties gave us. If they can't/don't listen to the people, all of the people, and just keep up with business as usual, occasionally this is going to happen.
BTW, politics is not your only constant negative rant.

Of course I agree America gets more right then wrong . It's the most powerful and advanced nation on the face of the earth i think that says it all.
I only dare speak for myself . I don't hate America but i am worried about it . Because it's the giant next door .If it winds up failing the consquences would be too terrible to think about . Maybe that's why when it does mess up i get hyper critical in a way i would not for other nations .
The quality of health care also varies in the US. Depending on where you lived, your experience in NC may not have been representative of the country.
As I said, hate may have been to strong of a word. I understand what you're saying and try to take your posts with a grain of salt. But don't be surprised if you get called out on hyper critical.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Why are you so bothered, Brewer, if you think their opinions are wrong?
Lord knows there's enough "America's Great!" people that you should be able to finds forums stuffed with them. Finding those sorts of people on an atheism forum, where things like non-conformity and independence are held as important values, well, that's going to be more work.
Those of us who have lived in foreign countries as well might know a thing or two that informs our opinions of America. In these sorts of conversations, the parochial don't hold much sway with me -- whether they're Americans who've never left their home state pronouncing on Europe, or vice-versa.
My understanding of patriotism, the only one I hold, is that I love my country enough to tell the truth about it in the hopes of repairing what I see as flaws. And let's face it -- we Americans have built a country that is every bit as flawed as most other countries.

Here's a Marketing 101 thing the UN doesn't seem to understand;
Recall Pol Pot offing 3 million Cambodians, that was another humanitarian crisis. This new one is threatening nearly 7 times as many people, BUT, the UN has omitted identifying a VILLAIN.
We need the name and picture of a dictator, warlord, poobah, or imam to focus on.
And once you get an ID, they can push some crimes against humanity charges too.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

"Rants" by nature are negative. I'm still wondering what there is to be positive about.

By sending tweets saying he is guilty and used fake news to make it look like he was grabbing pussies and dodging taxes as alibis.
If tweets are good enough for a president, it is good enough to not just hang things on trump, but to hang trump.
