How much time do you spend in the dirt man? I've been oogling your garden since I joined....and I've always wondered. Is it a constant struggle, or is it pretty well established?

Surprisingly little really. Soil in the back garden hasn't been disturbed much in a long time, though I'll throw some mulch over the top from time to time. I sweep the paths or at least pick up my piles of deadheads and prunings before we have company over. In the spring when we get some rain I like to slither through the garden yanking all the weeds. After that it is strictly as the spirit moves me. I like to spend time in the garden and when I look at it I sometimes get an inspiration to do a little pruning or to move a plant or to go plant something I've gotten started or bought. I've decided that my relationship with the garden is more important than whether it always looks perfect. I think if it isn't fun, I must be doing it wrong.

Such a good looking family, and your babies are beautiful. Seriously!
I raised two of my own, along with 3 of my nephews, so I know what a busy house you must have. Enjoy every minute, they will be grown before you know it.

Man, so many good pictures to choose from after having been lost in the woods for a year.

Your wife looks so young! (Don't worry, I'm wheezing too much to be a skeezin.)
A picture of your mom. I seem to remember she was a high school English teacher? (Bet she isn't too young.)
I wonder what was this year away about. Fishing for crabs in Alaska? Is there a tale to tell?

Fishing in Alaska? Ha, I wouldn't be caught dead in that shithole, even if Lilly begged me. My wife is actually a few years older than me - which was even harder to believe before she had 4 kids. I distinctly remember carding her when we met. My mother was, indeed, an english teacher. Have at her bro, but if I were you, I'd double wrap it.
Not too much of a tale to tell. I bought a new house. The wife and I discovered that there were alot of quality pieces of land just wasting away on the lists. Banks weren't financing so people weren't buying. If, however, you had cash in your hand...you pretty much had the banks and the owners by the balls. They had toxic assets they wanted to get rid of, but no suckers to dump them on. We bought a 3,200sq ft house on 2 acres with a creek for $20k. I had to get a wifi tower built on my roof (we're down in a little valley) and point it in the direction of the nearest corn silo before we got interwebs. Would have done it sooner, but it was a cold cold winter out here and I had other things to do.....like establishing all the fruit trees and bushes I'm used to....tilling up a little garden, etc. Now we're looking for some class IV(or worse) ag land so that I can get back to work. That, or some other sucker who wants to break into ag with his own money and needs the experienced hand of good ole yours truly to realize his dreams. I'm just about done with row crops, and heat, and the scorching sun - so I'd prefer to go a different route this time. But, we'll see how it all pans out, eh?
Chopped alot of damned wood this last year too....so much wood........I don't even want to look at the pile. My shoulders hurt just thinking about it.

I found a very old pic when i was around 7-8 years old (i'm the one on the right) and it is probably the oldest pic of myself that i have (it was taken around 1988).
It also might be the first pic ever with the DUCK face in the history of the human kind lol
