We had 29oC yesterday. That in addition to having a wonderful cough and upper airway infection makes me really miserable. I'm more of a -15oC girl Big Grin

Here's to all who feel the heat:

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

It generates in Charleston, SC and spreads all the way up to Washington, DC and down into Mississippi and Florida. You feel like a limp wet dishrag all day long, or like you're walking through soup. You know those jungle exhibits in zoos and parks where the misters and plants make it constantly damp inside? Ain't got nothin' on summer in the south.

We get humid here too, so much so that you sweat even, and here's the annoying part, even when it isn't very warm!

To be claggy and still a bit chilly sucks.

That's pretty much how it is here to a lesser extent...depends on if the rain is coming in or not. We've been swimming in rain all spring and summer, so it's been damp except for a couple weekends or a week or two of sun.

I bitched at El Dinero last summer because y'all had all that rain and he said he'd gladly give it back - I didn't think he meant it when he said "every day but 4".

Humid heat is the worst! But I'm secretly smug, my friend, who's originally from Arizona, is finally complaining about the heat too Big Grin

I used to work in the oil fields in East Texas. It would be 100+ degrees outside and I would be digging with a shovel in bluejeans, combat boots, a long sleeve shirt, and hardhat on.

I became so acclimatized to the heat that when we drove from one field to another, in a truck with no AC, the 100+ degree wind blowing in through the windows would cause goosebumps to pop up on me.

The human body is remarkably adaptable. And we spent the vast majority of our species' lifetime in hot, tropical locations.

Humans actually have the most sophisticated biological cooling system in the animal kingdom. Something that doesn't get near enough notice in our evolutionary history. There are a few scientists that have both pointed this out and proven theories based on it in the field.

But they are in the minority compared to their colleagues.

The average summer temperature here is 70 degrees. Cool Shades

Unbelievably, I sweat like fuck in it. Even behind my knees.

I would literally die in 100+ degrees. Or 81 degrees.

It's 79 degrees F (26 degrees C) here. I find it to be perfectly comfortable.

That's a heatwave where I come from. I have to stop and drink every 10 minutes in that sort of burning heat.

In fact, if it dares hit 86/30, it's an emergency and tarmac on the roads starts melting.
