Turn your speakers up to 11

We did this in a HS concert with shotguns and blanks. That was some kind of band geek fun I'll tell you what!

Even modern Russians don't use 105mm caliber.
To do it well one needs napoleonic brass muzzle loader 8 or 12 pounders firing black powder charges.

Saw a performance of this at Ravinia two years, and, while they didn't have live cannons, they did have choral sections that are rarely used with performances of this piece. And they were translated into English.
Although, honestly, 1812 is a bit overrated. Capriccio Italien is pretty metal at times, but surprisingly, it gets overshadowed. Maybe it's the lack of cannonfire, but still (relevant section starts at 10 minutes in)

If you're going to do it, at least use muzzle-loaders.
And black powder only to get the proper smoke effect.

Jesus Fucking Christ, I've got a pair of Klipsch Cornwalls and a HSU Research 15" subwoofer. 1812 Overture on that mass of efficient speakers would probably take the drywall down all over my house . . .

Fun fact: A couple years ago, I was on a big Tchaikovsky kick and, while looking into the best recordings, settled on a recording by Erich Kunzel, and, after renting a CD of it from my local library (because my library still does that and I still rent them for my car), I found it actually had a warning in its liner notes saying that it did indeed get loud, and could damage speakers if it was played at full blast. Not sure if it was remastered before or after the Loudness War became a thing, but it's worth noting.

Rev, is that the Telarc version?. I've got lots of telarcs!
My amp fought hard and bravely but died honourably!
It was able to peak at 1000w
Together with the 15"down firing subby, it was fun rattling the windows....
