Can God be seen in the maths?
RE: Can God be seen in the maths?
Khemikal quote- the only place god can be seen is in the addled minds of god believers, same as always.

They say all sorts of stupid shit, I say so what. Somehow I doubt that "god" made that, up above, btw.....probably should have used a better example.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

If you claim to see God in XY, you better

1. define what you mean by God
2. lay out your criteria for what you consider evidence for God so we can judge how sensible and meaningful they are
3. Point us to said evidence so we can judge whether it fulfils the criteria

Anything short of that, you're just bullshitting, scientist or not.

Perhaps god can be seen in the maths.

Zero, perhaps?

If anything, the math IS god.
One thing we know for certain is that nothing in the universe violates the laws of mathematics. And it's a pattern that even after all the failed theories and physical laws, can't seem to be shaken.
Probably, the main reason is self equivalence. By the very act of existing in any form, real or imagined, absolutely nothing can NOT be itself, because that would by very definition make it something else.

Take the number two for example. There are an infinite number of other numbers, but no matter how hard you try, you cannot say two is X when X is not two.
The operations you perform in mathematics are no different.
The reason 1+1 cannot equal 3 is the fact that the phrase "1+1" is simply another way of expressing "2".

If you want, you can try to define 3 as being two like so:
The following count of tallies shall be called 3: II
The following tallies shall be called 1: I
Therefore: 1 + 1 = 3

But you're not doing anything special there. You're just calling the same number by a different name.

It might be more accurate to state that math that does not usefully and accurately describe some fundamental relationship of the universe is not good math.  It;s not so much that the universe "follows maths laws" but that maths laws were described by reference to the behavior of the universe. More a language than a set of proscriptions.

Why does 1+1=2? What is 2? Define your variables. Wink

What would it look like if something in the universe violated the laws of mathematics? I don't quite see how you can make a rigid logical connection between mathematics and the universe. We can describe the universe using mathematical theories, but those are violated all the time because they are not exact to infinite precision.

"but those are violated all the time because they are not exact to infinite precision"

Are you saying that they are numerically inaccurate at a certain level of granularity because the theory is wrong?
Or is it a bity like pi?
