My wish--I wish that my whole family including myself were Kryptonian--complete with powers with no Kryptonite to be found anywhere. Terrorism solved. And as a bonus we get fucking awesome powers. And if we hear about a school shooting, we can be in and out in a second.
If I had superpowers I suspect I'd end up like Hancock.

I don't know if a world where guns never existed would be better or not.
I guess I'd have different ideas about having one wish. One obvious choice is having unlimited money. I know they say money can't buy happiness, but I think my life would be happier if I had more.
Sometimes I wish I could make it where no one could lie to me. I think I'd be able to figure people out a lot better, without having to be all cynical and close everyone off, if they always had to tell me the truth about their intentions.
Then of course there's wishing for some sort of superpower. Like being able to save a point in time, and reload it, like in a video game. Or maybe something as mundane as having a better body, that is the pinnacle of the Human condition, and will always remain that way. The other side of the scale, of course, would be to have the power to reshape reality around me. Find some uninhabited island, and make it my own little kingdom.
If I was going to make a world spanning wish, I think perhaps it would be to make all of Humanity more selfless and empathetic, towards their species as a whole. A lot of the problems with corruption happen because people forget their empathy,

I don't know about the gun question, the world would be unrecognizable.

The movie Bunraku firmly shatters that wishful thinking's efficacy as far as curbing violence. Actually a really great film, totally underrated and not well known despite the cast being very prominent.
Me personally, if I had one wish? I'd wish to go back to my infant self with every bit of knowledge and memory I possess now.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?
