But it’s not the first time. African-American congregations have endured controversy and scandal for decades. Here’s a short list of the stories that made headlines.

In Colorado, two pastors, a former principal and a teacher have been arrested by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office in a sexual assault case involving a 15 year-old boy.

The alleged sexual abuse involved a teacher at Hilltop Baptist School. First reported in December 2010, the police say that the boy was in a sexual relationship with a female teacher in 2007 and 2008.

The pastor of the church, according to the grand jury report, was told about the sexual relationship and did not report it to the police and discouraged other witnesses from going to the police. The pastor allegedly told members of the congregation in effect that they would be expelled from the church if they told police.

Another major sex scandal involving a mega-church is on the verge of making headlines. This time the location is Los Angeles and is the focus is Faithful Central Bible Church headed by pastor Kenneth Ulmer.

More sexual misconduct from "god's" moral ministers!

OROVILLE — An arrest warrant has been issued for a former associate pastor of a Chico church charged with misdemeanor child molestation.

Jesse Daniel Ruhl, formerly of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, is being sought after he missed a Jan. 18 arraignment hearing in Butte County Superior Court for an alleged relationship with a 16-year-old girl that was first reported in February 2011.

The church is also being sued in local court for a 2002 incident where then-teacher and associate pastor David Joseph Jorgensen committed lewd acts on a female student when she was 14.

I think Ken Humphreys needs to do an article on "Protestants: Just as Bad". Protestants here in America like to do the "oh, that's the Catholics" line when you bring up religious oppression. While it is true that the Catholics do own the most famous examples of Christian atrocities (the Inquisition, what a show) the Protestants proved themselves to be just as bad when they had the power to do so.
