Harriett Woods, then-president of the National Women's Political Caucus, was quoted by the museum as saying, "Anita Hill focused attention on the fact that there were no women in that Senate panel making decisions about people's lives."

orogenicman, please do not post entire articles in threads and use the quote tags when quoting an article.

Also, Thomas's wife should be ashamed for asking for an apology in the first place.

Why not? I have been posting on forums on the internet for 15 years and this is the first time anyone has asked me not to do this. If the article is too long, I usually only quote relevant parts and post the link. If the article is only about a page long, I always post it in its entirety with the link and usually cite the author. Why is this a problem? It hasn't been so far? And why bring it up in this thread, since I believe I only posted the link and a comment?

It's copyright infringement, and this is covered in our rules. Also, online magazines make money on a per hit basis, so when you entirely reproduce their article on another website, you are taking away their potential revenue.

Just because something is totes okay elsewhere, doesn't make it universal.

Some forums allow it; some don't. We don't. Plain and simple (it's outlined clearly in the rules).

Quote:If the article is too long, I usually only quote relevant parts and post the link.
That is fine to do; just don't quote the entire article. There is no point when people can simply follow the link. This is a forum for discussing things; it is not a repository for articles that already exist on the internet. We don't want to clog up the database with articles that can be viewed (usually in a better format) somewhere else. As Eilonnwy also stated, there is a copy-write issue too.

Quote:Why is this a problem? It hasn't been so far? And why bring it up in this thread, since I believe I only posted the link and a comment?
We can't moderate everything at once; we go through things and if we spot something, we'll inform people. If you've done it in other places, I suggest you go back to those posts and edit the article out.

Eilonnwy brought it up in this thread because you did paste the entire article. I removed it from your post after she told you about it.
