Vaccination exemption in CA, personal down, medical up
#21
RE: Vaccination exemption in CA, personal down, medical up
I sit here and think well I don't want people forcing me to do things I don't agree with to my children and want to say that if they don't go to public school let them not vaccinate... then I think another moment. I think about the kids that die for no reason other than their parents believe in the power of prayer healing. I think of the now adult girl that is in horrible condition and is suing her parents for not helping her with easy modern medicine when they could have. It makes me wonder how I could ever think it's okay not to give children a simple shot to prevent horrible situations later in life.

Yep, I'm all for the vaccinating and other medical wonders. I just don't know how we enforce that. Depriving them of certain opportunities will only go so far. The truly backward among us want to keep their kids home in the basement anyhow. As much as I'd like there to be universal vaccination, there may be no better way than a better, more effective education. Without it, we as a society just can't have nice things. Then again, so long as the backward oriented aren't participating in public education - who am I kidding? We're fucked.

You know, the more I think about anti-vaxers, the more I realize just how backward their thinking is. Personally, even if there were a risk of autism, I'd rather have a live autistic kid than a dead genius kid. What is so hard to figure out about that?

I followed the national health plans, plus 2 optionals to Sofia. 4 dosis of the bacterial meningitis (the viral one is on the plan) at 93 euros a dosis, and two dosis of rotavirus 57 euros each. Its a pain because they cry with the needle (except the rotavirus one, its taken orally.

Never regret it for a moment.

Its a good thing for women. Girls of 12 (iirc) can be vaccinated agaisnt the HPV on the plan. What it means being on the national vaccination plan is that you don't pay for those.

Sure, don't force them, but I see no problem whatsoever keeping non-vaccinated kids out of public schools.  Choice is great, but if your choice negatively impacts herd immunity, the herd should be able to protect itself.

Public anti-social behavior is not without public consequence.

Meh, I see your point but I dunno how fair that is. They still pay taxes for the school after all...

I have not a single fuck to give for the equity of people who make selfish decisions which put their children and other's children at risk. They certainly aren't interested in being fair to those they are putting at risk.

I pay taxes for schools also. What's your point? If you pay taxes you're automatically entitled?

I don't think they do it for selfish reasons though. There are people out there who really believe vaccines may cause negative, life long effects on their kids due to a bad reaction of some sort. They truly believe they are making the right choice for the health of their children. And perhaps there is a small population of kids who have immune issues and may be particularly sensitive to certain substances in some vaccines. I don't know. I see your side of it for sure, but I also see the side that might be discriminated against. There's definitely a conflict of rights here and it's a tough issue.

It's a public safety issue plain and simple .

Children should not die or be permanently scarred. Because some science denying yahoo's don't like vaccines . 1 in a million children might has a sensitivity to a vaccine (thou there is no proof of this) But small pox ,typhoid, and Tuberculosis kill nearly everyone .
Seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy -- myself.

Um......... not to be a nit picker but,......... those diseases are not on the required vaccination list for children. Just sayin.
