So it turns out that the Catholic Church is having troubles with its "poles." Not terribly surprising.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

That's been their problem for a while now. Maybe they're taking that bible phrase to heart about "thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

I hated Catholicism when I called myself one ( went to a Catholic school)... hated it even more when I became a Christian... now I see it all as the same.

Quote:While it is difficult to estimate how many people are covered by church plans, five new lawsuits against some of the nation's largest Catholic hospital chains show the designation is embraced by employers whose scale and finances are very different from houses of worship or religious denominations. Some of their independently maintained pension plans cover tens of thousands of workers and are significantly underfunded.
I thought their pension and medical care were funded by the "god will provide" insurance company. Your plan is underfunded? Just A/S/K for some coverage!

My cousins up in Minnesota mentioned that there a big scandal breaking up in MN. Their public radio station, (MPR) did an investigation following a disclosure of one of that diocese's Canon lawyers, (a lady), who was a whistle-blower. The Vicar of the diocese just resigned, and people are calling for an investigation of the archbishop, for covering up known child porn she said she saw, and tried to report, found on a priest's computer.
Every religion is true one way or another. It is true when understood metaphorically. But when it gets stuck in its own metaphors, interpreting them as facts, then you are in trouble. - Joseph Campbell

This fish truly does stink from the head down.
