We can make the history a separate issue here. I would not keep the name, but the idea of gathering for social events is normal.

I am thankful for my mom, and the fact that she made my life easier. I am thankful that tomorrow I won't be forced to attend church or a mosque or synagogue either.

I hate that some take Christmas day literally too. But I am not such a fucking dick that while I object to the logic of the history, that I am going to condemn anyone for having a day off and spending time with their family.

My favorite holiday is New Years Day because all the hype is over. So if I post ABBA's "Happy New Year" video, and I will, does that mean I want to kill everyone who doesn't like ABBA?

Point is, there is a time for arguing logic, blasphemy and simply wishing people well.

I could give a shit what they call tomorrow. To me it is an excuse to drink beer, and watch football.

Sure, I can go with all of that. But the fact is that thanksgiving simply does not exist outside the US. Nobody else cares. Americans might believe that everyone else cares but nobody does. It is a peculiar 5% that does and not even all of them.

Again, if you want to attack the religious connotations of the holiday fine. But don't sit there and claim Hanukkah or Ramadan deserve any more or less attention or validity because we don't celebrate those holidays.

I find all religious holidays ABSURD, but good luck in stopping any of any religion worldwide. 

At least in the west we are not forced to celebrate and can simply look at as a day off and excuse to be with family. 

And you are REALLY fucking pissing me off considering tomorrow will be my first Thanksgiving WITHOUT my mom. Now, again, I don't buy the history or religion behind the intent. But YOU ARE fucking pissing me off knowing that if my mom were still alive, I'd be sharing a Thanksgiving meal with her and watching football with her.

First of all I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, this is a time to reflect not only on what we are but where we could be.

Well Happy thanksgiving, but 95% of the rest of the world cares not a whit. What are you thankful for?

We all have our problems, different people, different places but problems nonetheless.

That is true for any time in human history and will likely be true in the future.

What we need to do is focus on what we have, these things might seem quite small and unimportant but they are ours and for that alone we should be grateful.

Grateful to whom?

We could be like those we've all seen and thought I'm glad that's not me. Well if not for a break here and there we could be that which we are glad we are not, so remember the next time you are feeling unfortunate there is always those who are very much worse off and I'll bet that some of them are grateful for what they have no matter how little it might be. Eat well my friends and enjoy your family and friends because next year we may not have some of them, so count your blessings and at least think of those who have far less than you do.

And what will you be doing besides gorging on food that others have not? Personally, I have DD's to various charities. Child blindness, child victims of the Syrian conflict and so forth. You seem to want to stuff your face with excess because "christians".

Anyways, thanks for the lovely sentiment. Over here in the U.K. we don't celebrate Thanksgiving and I wish we had our own British equivalent because I think Thanksgiving is a beautiful celebration.

Fuck no! Christmas starts in November, Easter starts in February and those once quaint and harmless little diversions; mothers day, valentines day, et al, are now festivals. Be gone with you sir!
