Doesn't matter though.

If the smart folks here are unable to recognize that they're being condescended to, no need in me wasting my time spelling it out.

I guess what I'm not getting from the OP is some implication or insinuation on CL's part that there's something shameful about ''anything but straight' sexuality.  Perhaps she is simply curious because doesn't come across it that much IRL.  Are you basing your assumption that the OP is laced with judgement on something within it that I'm simply failing to notice?  Or are you basing it on prior interactions with the author?  Not being snarky; I just feel like your making a pretty big leap in assuming ulterior motives here.

And actually, to answer the OP in full: I don't know if statistics exist for any correlations between atheism and sexual preference, but I can't think of any coherent reason why the two would be related. I mean, knew I was straight long before I became an atheist, lol. Though you could certainly argue that people who live in fear of retribution (eternal or otherwise) due to religious dogma are more likely to stay in the closet, perhaps creating a perception to some that 'those godless heathens are all a bunch of fags and sexual deviants'. 😝

I remember reading/hearing somewhere that 50% of women had a tendency for bisexuality. I'm not sure if it's true or not, but it stuck with me because I honestly have never known one, so it seemed a little unbelievable. I've known a couple lesbians in my life, but no bi women that I'm aware of, so 50% always seemed high. And then I thought of AF and that multiple ladies here have come out as bi (or pan I suppose... i thought Jack and Losty were bi). Was curious to see if it was "50%" or higher here.

But yeah, I agree that it doesn't make much sense for belief system to have any sort of effect on orientation... It's probably just a matter of people here being more open about it.

I'm attracted to both men and women. I just find sex boring.

I'll try to tomorrow when I can get on my desk top. It doesn't work over mobile and I'm in bed.

I'm basing my opinion on the utterly dishonest fashion in which the OP was presented, as well countless prior posts and threads  in which the author attempts to draw a correlation/connection between atheism and what considers she to be immoral as determined by her belief system.

She's slumming.

If folks can't see the obvious past the constant declarations "Gee golly, you guys are all swell!", that's fine; Makes no difference to me.
See what you want to see.

I'm curious to know (either from you or the people who kudosed your post) which "countless threads" these are where i supposedly try to "draw paralles between atheists and behaviors I find immoral." Lol, thats quite interesting, considering I can't remember a single one.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

That's a good question. I'd be curious to know that as well. Don't think I've ever met one. I remember EP once alluded to the fact that he might be, but you never know with him.

Its rare i come across one who openly admits it. Only a few on different forums. I remember on an adult forum there were some who admit to not remembering ever being interested in sex or sexual fantasies but people replied to them as if there was something wrong with them for not being interested. So i guess some of the few that are may be confused of how they should feel.

I am a man, not answering the poll, but I am heterossexual. I voice the same opinions as LfC. Having sex with a man isn't a consideration, as I don't find sexual attraction with men. Guys are to talk football, compare notes on hot girls, drinks tons of beer and usually making dirty jokes.

But as I've come to realize in the place I work now, you can find seemingly causeless spike in the population of gay people in a random place.  I work up in the countryside and I'm almost certain there's way more than the average amount of lesbians in this area.  I first thought it might be that they come to this area like it's some unofficial cool place for lesbians to be but a lot of them I know were born here.  It's a bit like the village of the damned except with lesbians instead of blonde haired mind readers.

You know, I was thinking about that as well. I wonder if certain cultures/environments churn out more homosexual/bisexual folks somehow. For example, it seems like there's hardly any gay/lesbian Muslims or with any Middle Eastern background.

In Saudi Arabia:

Homosexuality is viral in Muslim countries. Actually; even historically it was so common in the Middle East:

Quote:Pakistan is not the kind of place that most people would associate with gay liberation. But some say the country is a great place to be gay - even describing the port city of Karachi as "a gay man's paradise".

Just wanted to stress that out.

*puts higher pitch type on to pass as a lady*

I guess the thought of being thrown off a building or killed if you come out seems to have had some effect on numbers. Wasn't that long ago in western countries when being homosexual was a crime, that there were less gay folks hanging around.

I don't think there are really less gay folks in these communities, there will certainly be less active gay people,  but admitting it, even to yourself because of indoctrination may be a factor.

Nobody executes gays. They butcher political foes of the state, and homosexuality is one of the justifications they use.
The sex happens in secrecy; but the affair is criticized publicly.

See what you want to see.

Sorry Thena, I'm not seeing it. It looks like an honest question to me. Even if her motive is nefarious, so what? I don't know about you but I'm not the least bit shamed or defensive about who I am. And this is friendly territory for us.

Oh, okay...Have fun then, buddy.

Lol..."nefarious". Rolleyes

I've always considered it very simple to explain since it was first explained to me. But then maybe who explained it to me explained it well.

The clue is in the etymology. "Bi"="two" but "pan"="all". So bisexuals are attracted to both sexes (meaning male and female), but pansexuals are attracted to all sexes, including non-binary.

Furthermore bisexuals, despite being attracted to both males and females, may be more attracted to one sex than the other . . . but for pansexuals the sex of the person has no bearing on how attractive they find them. They only see the person and are only attracted to the person, regardless of their sex.

Sex can be fun and enjoyable.

It takes time to do it properly.
