Lol. An armed guard protecting the school from some psycho killing kids isn't "violence with violence". It's self defence. Would you rather let the gunman finish his job? Might as well not call the cops then. What an odd thing to say.

Who's going to pay for these armed guards? Where are they going to come from? What training will they receive? How thoroughly vetted will they be? Will these guards have it in them to shoot children?
My nightmare scenario is that conservatives - like always - try to do it on the cheap, and we wind up with some person who shouldn't be a guard shooting up the school they're supposed to protect. Or, some school is protected by a glorified mall cop who gets stripped of their weapon. I also find it sad and funny that conservatives are willing to pay for armed guards for every school in America, but don't want to increase funding for education itself. "The music program is still cut, and the teachers are still paying for school supplies, but there's now a fat slob going through a divorce standing in the hallway with an AR-15. God bless America." This is the annoying thing about some of you people. You can't seem to grasp that your thinking doesn't have to be mutually exclussive. I say it may be a good idea to have an armed guard or 2 for added security in public schools, and you automatically assume I'm pro guns or pro violence. Do I think we need stricter gun laws? Absolutely! Let me make that clear: WE NEED STRICTER GUN LAWS. ...But that doesn't mean having an armed security guard as an added protection for our kids isn't a good idea. We can support both, you know.

This thread is about the Presidents ideea of reducing shootings , you can understand why I thinked that this was your ideea of solving the problem. Edit: I can't grasp how an armed guard would help , if I want to start a shooting at a school I'll just take him out first and than start the killing spree. First, I am not pro-gun; but rather, believe that self-defense is a basic human right and having sufficient means to do so is a necessary part of protecting that right. Second, Christianity, in the main, teaches not to initiate violence.
