Self driving Uber vehicle kills pedestrian

On the news today. Car was in automatic mode with a human overseer, still managed to kill a pedestrian, apparently in a crosswalk.

This ain't good.

Uber has suspended their program for now.
 The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I wonder if it computed that it was better to kill a random pedestrian than an overseer.

Is someone at Uber going to be tasked with determining if the vehicle had been hacked?

And once again, here's the self-driving car Volvo made in 2015 that turned out to have pedestrian detection as a premium feature. No, it wasn't merely an optional feature that could be turned off; it was something you HAD TO PAY EXTRA to keep this self-driving car from going all Christine on your ass. And the company themselves didn't bother to pay the extra money:
