King David (1985)

VERY homoerotic !!!

Hollywood hardly ever mentions a word about anything religious related...

As article explains:
Quote:Whether it be by questioning, satirizing, pointing out faults, or simply making light of the whole kit and caboodle, the following atheist-friendly movies have done their own small parts in bringing religion down a peg while putting science and skepticism in the limelight.

Now don't get me wrong—there are very few atheists out there who would completely condemn (or outright refuse to watch) any film based solely on the fact that it has religious undertones, or even one that's completely religious in nature. But every once in a while it is a breath of fresh air for a rationalist to see a film with the brass to stand up and call out religion for what it is, and/or give secularism, science, and reason a voice.

The pickings may be slim but, believe it or not, these movies are out there. One just need know where to look.

Another movie I remembered is a documentary about KKK "Blood in the Face" (1991)

This movie was done by a guy that was teaching Michael Moore how to make movies and Moore was the only one that had guts to talk to this people on camera so you can hear his voice.

So this movie is about KKK gathering and as you look at it they are Christians that are simply more frightened of blacks and Jews then your regular BLM phobic conservative. They are mostly creationists and they believe KKK is all about love for white people. They believe that Adam means white and so on.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Soooooo, it's not "atheist friendly", it's "anti religious folks."

Interesting. I thought atheism wasn't defined by its opposition to Christianity or any other faith....

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Yul Brenner said so, in fact he made that the 11th commandment. Luckily religious people ignore them all

I have no idea who Yul Brenner is, but as far as I've seen personally, Hollywood movies overwhelmingly either don't talk about religion, or do so in a negative sort of light... like making one character be the crazy religious person or something.

Seems like most movies are "atheist friendly", unless atheist friendly actually means anti religion instead of just non religious.

Lmao, I don't know if that song really warranted a movie about it

I think this is more like movies that would appeal to atheists. You don't ever see movies about atheist topics, but you see plenty of religious movies. There are two opening this week alone.

As I've been told, atheism isn't anything except lack of belief. It isn't opposition to religion, it's simply an absence of it, from what I understand. So I'm not sure what "atheist topics" would even be in the first place, besides just topics that don't involve/promote religion lol. Most movies don't. That's what I meant.

.
I guess if we wanna say "anti theist topics" and "anti theist movies", that would make more sense, because there's actually a principle involved.
