So now I can make sure my parents don't waste any of their time watching it, since they'll be celebrating ME!

Hey, we've still got her as head of state and our actual ties with England are effectively ZERO.

We did have a republican referendum some years back but the then PM, John Howard(who was very pro monarchy) rigged it by making the choices such that no one(including myself) would vote for a republic.

Instead of a straight Republic or Monarchy choice,with the actual structure to be worked out later.
The choice was either the existing system or a republic where the President was selected by the P.M instead of voted for by the people as in most countries.

Needless to say the referendum went in favour of the current system and the Monarchists loudly proclaimed their victory. It wasn't but there you go.
