Unlikely, we only pretend to be a country under rule of law. I think you and I both know that jails are for the little people.

I'd say it's some combination of jails being for the little people, and taking $2,500 from 'russian linked' sources not being illegal that will keep them from being locked up.

I've assumed Russia has been 'meddling' in every american election since at least the 50's. I also assume the US has 'interfered' in just about every election in the world. I remember Mitt calling Russia the #1 geopolitical foe in 2012, and then Barack saying "80's called and want their cold war back."
