The deceivers are the problem, and they are trying to obscure the lessons of the stories you call silly Min, because it refutes the position they are taking. They mix falsehood with truth, as it suits them.

The Quran entertains this as legit attack on the Prophet, an accusation that God takes it upon himself to refute, and then responds, I believe that contention for example is found in Suratal Furqan.
