RE: 1st Call for Christian Only Debate: Our Role on AF
May 2, 2018 at 5:50 am
Firstly I'd like to point out that the proposed debate topic sounds more like an item on a committee meeting agenda than a debate topic.
Secondly I'd like to point out that there's going to be a vast disconnect between Wooter's conception of his role here and his actilual role, vis Wooters "my role is to prove how stupid and misguided atheists are through my superior intellect and Thomas Aquinas". The rest of us "superior intellect? Ha! Your role is butt-monkey".

Doesn't really seem like a debate. "Our roles" is pretty ambiguous. Seems more like a workaround to get a place for Christians to talk without interference. But, they'll just take things that we say here and bring them up in any thread they see us in.

Things to avoid:
1) Write a massive walk of text and then run off to the next atheist forum
2) Repeat yourself endlessly
3) Judge everyone and feel superior
4) Pretend to yourself that you've challenged your beliefs
5) Have atrocious views about things that don't hurt anyone and are none of your business
6) Tell atheists what they believe

Quote:This is a call/challenge to other AF Christians. The topic for debate and discussion is our role(s) as Christians on Atheist Forums.

Why not wait for what he actually says rather than making something up in your head and criticising a strawman?
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
