Perhaps you could read "The Greatest Show on Earth" by Richard Dawkins (though I'm sure the name will scare you off) and get a real understanding of what evolution actually is and how it works, broken down into easily digestible terms specifically for the layman. Or are you satisfied to wallow in ignorance, born up by the ignorance of ID "scientists?"
