New (Old) Car

My son and his wife have returned from a tour of Japan (he's in the USAF), and we (son, his wife and I) went to the local dealers looking for a vehicle for them to drive to his next duty station. That didn't work out, so my wife, son and his wife went out of town about 15 miles and negotiated a better deal at another dealership. It's funny- my eldest son doesn't like his mother all that much. Long story. Anyway, having her at the negotiating table saved him at least $2k. His attitude has improved! The results with me there would have been the same, but the "mother creature" got points for saving them serious cash.

My wife's the bulldog when it comes to negotiating...
I sent HER in to deal with SUPA CARZ and HOGZ (used Harley dealer) to buy my "precious".
I told her I'll sit in the car so no other bastard can touch it, you go in and haggle as hard as you can but remember dear, we didn't fly to the other side of Australia for nothing! ...hint hint.
Anyway, an hour later, she came out and gave me the thumbs up. I was euphoric.
(In the mean time 10 people had come to look at the car and I told them, yeah, sorry, It's sold !!!) hehe
Fuck 'em. I wasn't about to let this one slip. I've been looking for one for 3 years.

Did they talk to AAFES MAS before they left Japan? You used to be able to get some really good deals buying there and taking delivery in the US. That's probably changed though.
He had something from USAA. Not sure what it was. Seems like the AF could have shipped his car? He ended up scrapping that after 4 years because he couldn't find a buyer in time.

Honda Civic econobox, black with a black interior. He'll be in Spokane for a few years, so black is an OK option. It would be murder here in southern California, though a lot of people have dark colored vehicles. AC for the win.
