Empathy Quotient

RE: Empathy Quotient
Trouble with these quizzes, and quizzes like them..is that you know what you're being quizzed on.  Combine that with a desired outcome...and voila.

The other problem, ofc..is that this is a cursory survey for social impairment. If I had no empathy but were highly functioning, socially......
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

RE: Empathy Quotient
I got 26.

I think some questions are flawed unless you ask other people's opinions and then you're relying on them telling the truth.

Things like can you easily tell if someone else is bored in a conversation?

How can you tell if you can easily tell if someone is bored in a conversation? If you didn't notice someone was bored you'd think no one was bored in that conversation until you did notice it then you'd think you were good at noticing it. But you might only pick up on it 2 out of 10 times.

Another was do you find it difficult putting yourself in someone else's shoes.
I think it takes effort for anyone to try and imagine what another person has to go through no matter how good you are at doing that and even then no one can truly do it totally accurately.
Other people might think they're great at it because they have a generally high opinion of themselves but they might not be.

I don't doubt the results though, I'm social to pass the time and I can see the fun in being around people but I'm not one for going out to places specifically to dress up and be social.
People have told me I have some minor autistic tendencies.
Also I do feel like I've had to learn a lot socially, it hasn't come easily or instinctively to me.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

All you have to do to ace it is shift your answers out of the "slightly agree/disagree" column.

One thing that struck me is that it relies on someone's perception of how well they perform. For example, someone might think that they are really excellent at judging people's emotions when in fact they are utterly clueless. Or people with a low self esteem may rate themselves really badly.

For the actual purpose of the quiz thats not a problem.  High self esteem is an indicator of social acclimation..even if the source of that high esteem is a miscalculation.

I am far too empathic to spend my time on this quiz.

It also depends on your mood.
I feel that if I was having a bad day I could easily get a 10 or 20 out of 80 in a practical application.
I've had fairly bad depression in the past and that can be a very selfish disorder where at certain times I would have been 0/80.
I could be wrong, but I feel certain I've seen Hammy show more than 3/80 empathy towards others here.
I also feel that empathy can be learned and unlearned, and not always overall but in certain situations.
And I think empathy is widely faked by people who then use it as a tool to judge others who don't fake it as well as they do.

So I went into that test thinking I would score high but I think I answered the questions honestly.
Did any of you who scored low think that you would before you started the test?

I did not say that.

Wow! I've never heard that joke before! Where did you hear that? Tongue

Half-serious question but please answer it seriously.
