Coconut Oil for the hair?

Others were talking about it in class today, and I'm not sure if I heard the one guy correctly. He said that he leaves it in his hair for a couple of months before washing it out.

Anyone here with coconut-oil-in-the-hair experience offer any advice? I was thinking of buying and trying.

Ya sure it was month and not moment? Ya might ask before you spend the cash. 

Although, I did have a friend in college who put vaseline in his hair after washing. But he washed his hair at least every other day.
