Love.

Every been loved by a really awesome parent who could help you grown and offer you anything to reach your fullest potential?

I know I sould like a nutter when I say I got to experience that love only for a moment, but it was so... complete perfect warm and inviting, I felt like I could never want to leave it...

Love is the only legit reason to want to be with God. again a child who loves his parents given the oppertunity to reunite needs no other reason.. Granted if God is not your father then you will never see a need to return.

How can you call your Father loving if he can potentially torture people?

It's a "sorrow" informed by religious indoctrination, absolutist black-and-white thinking, dodgy moral thinking, and either an inability or unwillingness to see the other person's point of view.

It is self righteousness that will not allow responsibility to be rightfully assigned.

It is self righteousness the demands all align themselves under the code of pop morality.

It is self righteousness informed by science that separates man from God and righteousness, forcing him to seek the black and white bonds of pop morality, which blinds them to all other views.

Meaning if you see religion or rather Christianity as a black and white duty to morality, you truly have NO idea of what the bible says or how it defines Christianity.
Truly. serving God is the exact opposite of what you think. in fact I know you think you are free from such chain, but in fact are bound so tightly by pop morality you are not allowed to have a view that pop morality does not stand for no matter how wrong you think it is! In another 20 years when the age restriction for sex with a minor is reduced to 12 or 13 (as it is in germany) will you be allowed to stand up and say this is wrong? will you be able to punch some 35 year old douche bag in the mouth when he comes to pick your 12 year old grand daughter up from your house to have sex with her? No because you are the one bound by the 'moral code.' and when pop morality say it is ok to have sex with children to oppose this woud be like opposing gay relationships now you will be arrested and dragged in the media and stonned by your fellow moral man.

On the flip side I am not only allowed to beat up some a-hole who wants to have sex with my 12 year old daughter I am tasked to do so. not only will I find forgiveness with God I can find peace with myself and my actions because I know what I did was right no matter what the pedophiles say.

Can you not see you are the one bound by "moral law" not us/I

not good or bad those are the devils terms.

The devil controls what is good or bad.

God seeks righteousness from us not 'morality.' Righteousness is a standard that never changes. what is righteous will always be righteous, even if pop morality deems what was one good, now bad.

for instance it is unrighteous to kill a child/baby

however it is not only moral to kill a baby by pop moral standards, it is immoral to tell a woman she can kill her baby. All anyone need do to justify a child's death is to rename it a "fetus" (latin for baby) and pop morality says you can kill as many as you like for something as trivial as a job or the baby interferes with life plans.. These foolish reason would never change the unrighteous death.. It was an unrighteous and and is an unrighteous act.

Again remember this is not morality standard where one must be punished for an immoral act. so there potential attonement for such an act. actually for all acts there can be atonement.

I'm not really sure what you saw that provoked all of that. 'Good' and 'bad' were not used in a moral sense ("pop" or otherwise). It concerned its use among those who think of themselves as part of the correct, winning in-group (the wheat as opposed to the chaff / the sheep vs. the goats, etc.). The Bible is loaded with precisely those sorts of in-group/out-group expressions (which I doubt you consider to be examples of disposable "pop" morality).

That really is all I was getting at.

Riiiiiight. Because killing millions of his children via a flood, when he made them all born with sin and then got pissed off when they did exactly what they were supposed to, according to His Plan, was such a fucking loving thing to do. Dodgy

Your god is a fucking piece of shit.

What a load  of tosh!  I do assign responsibility, both to myself and to others.  I just don't do it under the flag of a god, because gods are superfluous to the assumption of and assigning of responsibility.

Putting aside the fact that you cannot read my mind to determine what I actually think, I'm quite sure that "serving God" is merely serving an image that exists in one's own mind, with no other referent in reality.

Quote:The age of consent in Germany is 14, as long as a person over the age of 21 does not exploit a 14- to 15-year-old person's lack of capacity for sexual self-determination, in which case a conviction of an individual over the age of 21 requires a complaint from the younger individual; being over 21 and engaging in sexual relations with a minor of that age does not constitute an offense by itself. Otherwise the age of consent is 16, although provisions protecting minors against abuse apply until the age of 18 (under Section 182(1), it is illegal to engage in sexual activity with a person under 18 "by taking advantage of an exploitative situation"[34]). ... The current rules for age of consent in Germany were set following a post-reunification penal law reform in 1994. The ages of 14 and 16 had been relevant since the coming into force of the Criminal Code for the German Empire in 1872: Under § 176, sexual acts with children under 14 were illegal and have been always since.

What you and GC don’t seem to understand is that wishing something were true is not a reason to believe that it is. Personal preferences are not reasons, and they shouldn’t be reasoned from either.  Reality cares not a lick about my subjective desires.  As soon as you guys hear an atheist say they wish god was real, you think that my wishing of it can be used as a way to persuade me into belief.  Is that how it started for you, MK?  You really, really wanted it to be true, and you worked your way backward from there?
