Hello,
We wanted to make you all aware of a new change regarding PMing staff. Some of you may have already noticed this addition to official PMs from staff members:
"If you would like to discuss the contents of this message, please do not reply directly to this staff member. Please create a new thread in the "Questions for Staff" subforum so that the entire staff can assist you."
When we reach a staff decision regarding a report, one of us usually volunteers to message the members involved, regardless of how we voted on the topic. Often, that staff member will get a reply from the involved parties. Unfortunately, that's problematic for us because we have to go back to the rest of the staff with any questions or complaints the member has and then go back to re-message that member. In order to get around that problem, the following guidelines are now in effect:
1. If you have any questions, concerns, comments, do not choose a member of staff and message them directly. Obviously, non-official correspondence with individual staff members is still perfectly fine. However, when you have a forum-related issue, we want you to use this forum: https://atheistforums.org/forum-80.html. The threads you create there are between you and staff. It allows us all to weigh in.
2. Whenever a staff member messages you about a report or other official forum issue, do not reply directly to that staff member. They are just the messenger. Instead, use the same forum to create a thread about any questions, comments or concerns you have about the message. https://atheistforums.org/forum-80.html Again, these threads are between you and staff only.
Thanks so much for understanding these new guidelines. We will try to leave reminders at the bottom of all staff messages and possibly add this to the rules for future, easier reference.
Later,
AF Staff
