So I guess having a high IQ in a religious society would make you an atheist and therefore more likely to be killed. Hence having a low IQ would be preferable. Yes, qualifying for disability comes to mind.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
Apparently if you want to be a cop in New London, NY, the answer is yes.
Quote:Jordan, a 49-year-old college graduate, took the exam in 1996 and scored 33 points, the equivalent of an IQ of 125. But New London police interviewed only candidates who scored 20 to 27, on the theory that those who scored too high could get bored with police work and leave soon after undergoing costly training.
I have another one:
Suppose you're captured by a bunch of psychopaths who're going to scan your brain to determine your IQ and kill you if your IQ exceeds 120. In this case, it would be preferable to have a low IQ. As for low IQ situations, one of my cousins worked in an injection molding plant for nearly forty years, just filling the reservoirs. Two months before he was due to retire they fired him. I don't think he noticed.
Investing in an asset bubble. You're more likely to believe that it is different this time, believe the hype and that prices will only ever go up. Then get scared when it goes bust.
Of course if you believe the hype too much you might not be able to sell in time. RE: Are there situations where it is better to have a low IQ?

It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.
