What on Earth has to happen before Catholics stop funding this crime ring, and abandon the charade that God is choosing these people to be leaders?

Pretty sure they all knew at the higher levels, probably including the archbishop Vigano.

That's the basic problem with asking Pope Francis to resign.

Is anyone else here familiar with Konrad Adenauer? Specifically, the reasons that led to him becoming the first Chancellor of West Germany after the post-WW2 occupation? During the Nazi era, Adenauer, former mayor of Koln, lay low, due to his figuring out that the Nazis could not be controlled. He was probably the only Weimar-era politician to do so, and if nothing else, he was the most well-qualified one to do so. So, he ended up as the ideal choice to lead Germany into proper greatness. Of course, when he left the office (which would happen sooner, rather than later, since, when the Nazis fell, he was 69 years old), there would be the problem of who else would actually be qualified to replace him AND not have ties to the Nazi regime. Given that they had such a hard time of finding politicians who weren't tainted by associating with the Nazis, and the compulsory military service and Hitler Youth membership, people would have to wait until the 1935-born generation to have a reasonable chance to find a replacement without the taint. So, he relaxed the Denazification laws because there was literally nothing else he could do.

Can we really expect the RCC to find cardinals who WEREN'T complicit in this shit?

It's willful blindness, and since humans all agree to allow others for willful blindness to falsehood and following that for various reasons, it won't go now.  We have to condemn people willfully disobeying God while obeying creatures, and equating his choice of leaders with people's choice, and equating leadership of his chosen ones who are God's hands and rope on earth, with that of normal people who have no legitimacy to lead us.

The Bible iterated this truth well, so it's willful blindness on many levels.

I always liked Pope Francis, but if this is true then I agree with Archbishop Vigano that he needs to resign. I don't see why the Archbishop would lie about something like this.

Didn't the pope just put out a 2000 word letter about eradicating child sexual abuse within the RCC? And now we have this?

This kindler, gentler papacy nonsense we've been bombarded with since Bergoglio took over is clearly a sham. He's continuing the strategy of his predecessors: putting the interests of the RCC ahead of the victims of child sexual abuse. Covering for abusers, showing leniency to known pedophiles, and berating victims are not the actions of someone who sincerely wants to stop the abuse.

Like I said in a previous thread, it's time to name names and fully cooperate with the authorities. Long letters stuffed full of hypocrisy and fake concern don't mask his pattern of behaviour.

To pick up on what you said above, if Vigano's testimony is true, then Bergoglio needs to be held accountable. I don't think a simple resignation is enough.

I'm reading now that Church "politics" may have played a part in Archbishop Vigano's accusations against the Pope and the call for his resignation. Apparently he was super conservative, while the Pope as well as McCarrick were more liberal.

As more info comes in, it seems in 2013 the Pope was made aware that McCarrick had inappropriate sexual relations with seminarians and other priests only, but the accusations about it happening with anyone underage didn't come out until recently and caught him by surprise.

Still find that hard to believe, but will be checking for updates as more info comes out.

That's not a problem. The previous two popes with their ultra conservatism were driving away people in their thousands.
