The Chinese invent everything, I am sure if you dug deep enough, we'd find their patent on the sun. Take that theists!

They believe they evolved separately from every other human on the planet.

As usual, Brian doesn’t believe he needs to be bothered with getting facts right before he would exercise his magnanimity and consent to grace us with edifying exhibitions of his unique ability to divine the underlying truth.

The reality is as usual multifaceted and not amenable to encapsulation by a few sound bites offered through a bullhorn. The Chinese secondary education system, at least through the official school curriculum promogated by current government, puts almost hagiographic emphasis on western enlightenment and scientific revolution, and the lives and accomplishments of great western scientists and inventors since Copernicus. The average Chinese high school graduate probably know far more about which western scientist was responsible for what major revolution in history of scientific thought during the last 500 years, and which major western inventor was responsible for what vital invention, then the average American high school graduate.

At the same time they also put great emphasis on teaching the accomplishments of Chinese scientists and inventors from before the 1500s, and those from recent times, say the last 100 years.

There is no doubt the official line in China is the fruits of the Age of Enlightenment and modern science are wonderful wonderful things, and these was primarily western things, and China wasn’t onboard during most of it.

I thought he was just saying that they'd claim parentage of Obama's kids if it suited them.

Many Chinese believe the Chinese people probably evolved in situ, and largely separately from other human populations on the planet for half a million to a million years, and Korean and Japanese are wayward offshoot of Chinese.

Many Japanese and Koreans believe they each also probably evolved largely separately from other human populations in general, including the Chinese,  for a few hundred thousand years as well. Any similarity with their neighbors are an artifact of later cultural exchange.  But specifically and most importantly Japanese and Korean people’s ancesteries had nothing to do with each other’s for at least that long.

Many south East Asians, especially the Buddhists, believes Darwinian evolution may or may not have been true for the westerners and particularly Africans,  but they themselves certainly didn’t descend from monkeys.

The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I saw a documentary a while back that claimed all modern humans are evolved from a group which left Africa between 50,000 and 100,000 years ago. Of course that doesn't mean that earlier hominids were not successful enough to radiate out of Africa sooner than that. But they would simply have been absorbed or over run by latest African exports.

Yep. If a group felt pressured while living along the Nile they would have taken the available exit into the ME. The Black Sea and Bosphorus would have caused most of them to head east. Apparently they made it to Australia by 50,000 BCE.

And now that China is on board, future generations of Chinese leaders better fucking ensure it's stays on board or else the 19th century will happen all over again.
