I always found this a strange subject. Feeding babies is a boobs primary function, if anyone has an issue with it its their fault.
If anything its mens boobs that should be covered up. They have no use other than to be gentle nibbled during lovemaking.

But seriously, I had something called a "hooters hider" (I swear I'm not making this up). It fit like an apron and you could barely even tell there was a baby under there.
I see more tits and ass, especially during warmer weather, when I drop my daughter off at her middle school.

ETA: My kid weaned off nursing when she was about 2 or 3. By then of course it wasn't necessary to nurse in public because she was able to eat solid food. I just sort of laugh when the boob police (which surprisingly includes women) think it's their business to tell a parent when their kid should wean off nursing.

I don't think it's "inappropriate" to breastfeed your own child ever, societies opinions can go to hell as far as I am concerned, but normally all kids will stop at around two or three or whenever they figure out the existence of fast foods.
