"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).

"Always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you" (1 Peter 3:15).

Unfortunately I will be stuck at mass with my family on Christmas eve rather than enjoying myself. Haven't told my family about my atheism and won't be doing so until i'm in a financial situation to pack my bags and move away

Celebrating? No. I've exchanged gifts with family and people I care about.

My family will be away,I usually have lunch with them. I will spend a couple of hours with some friends on Christmas night. That's it.

Well, it's pretty much the same for me. I'm even willing to spend several hours at a church sitting through the same service every year if I know I'm going to finally get the complete Twilight Zone (original series, of course) on DVD or the collected hardcover works of J.D. Salinger (among other things) at the end.

I celebrate Christmas as a secular holiday with family gatherings, feasting and gift giving. The holiday is great. Now if they would just take the mythology out of it....
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.

God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?

I do celebrate christmas.
My family will celebrate christmas.
I will always celebrate christmas.

If I ever stop, it'll only because someone or something sucked all the christmas joy out of the celebration.

If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925

Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan

As an atheist, I often get asked this a lot. Yes, I celebrate Christmas. It's all about getting presents. That's ALL it is. Nothing else. Hmmmm, I wonder what I should do when my family is praying at the dinner table...
Trudging through endless religion one step at a time.

What about all that great food and getting shit faced? (then having a nice lie down)

In my family there is the added frissant of trying to make sure I leave before first blood. Cool Shades

I can clearly remember the last Christmas I thoroughly enjoyed. It was in 1958.
