To all those sun-worshippers and star-gazers out there, I want to wish a happy SOLA VINCES. The celebration of the "Victory of the Sun" which the ancients celebrated in the days following the passing of the Winter Solstice, December 22. In those days of Nature Worship, the ancient Pagan priests carefully observed the timing of the length of daylight for each day.
With the lack of scientific understanding, it was necessary for the star-gazing priests of the time to carefully observe and then finally announce, with great joy, that the days had indeed begun to grow longer again; that the New Solar Year had begun! It was a celebration of the victory of Light and Warmth over Darkness and Cold. It was a celebration common to all ancient cultures as we all know. . . . "SOLA VINCES" was the name of this celebration during the time of the glorious Pagan Roman Empire to which our present day Western Civilization and culture owe so much.
So I say: HAPPY SOLAR NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU !
