Anthony Scaramucci had an interesting take on this on Real Time this week.
Essentially he says that Trump is fully intending to lie as much as possible, because he knows that nothing gets his base motivated more than liberals freaking out about his lies. The lies don't matter to them, but liberals decrying the complete destruction of common sense is like sex to them.
