Armistice Day

Armistice Day
The orange fuckface made an excuse not to visit American soldiers graves yesterday. But on top of that, the asshole showed up late to today's ceremony not walking hand in hand with all the other world leaders. Not sure if that was his choice to be a dick like he has to Europe or Europe telling him they don't like him. Funny but Putin also arrived late.

It has been 100 years since the end of WW1.  Dumbass orange turd thinks this is about celebrating military might, it is not, it is about memorializing those died, not a celebration like a Rambo movie.

In Flanders Fields
BY JOHN MCCRAE

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

That was sad, bittersweet and beautiful. Thanks for posting this. To bad something like this is lost on the orange turd. I don't think he has any grasp on the brutality of war. Today's ceremony is not just honoring the dead, but a stark reminder of what humans worldwide should seek to avoid.

There's this one day a year when I allow myself active recollection.

Thank you for your service. I know I couldn't have done it. But the soldiers who are ethical never look at it as some mere game or get thrills out of killing. Today is not a celebration like  getting to the end of an X-Box game, but ending the horrors and brutality of war.

Macron is describing the horrors right now.

"Disfigured", "stench of the trenches" Talking about entire populations being killed"

Macron just burned the orange turd chastising him for his selfishness. GOOD FOR YOU VIVA LA SANITY!

A Song of Winter Weather - Robert W. Service

It isn't the foe that we fear;
It isn't the bullets that whine;
It isn't the business career
Of a shell, or the bust of a mine;
It isn't the snipers who seek
To nip our young hopes in the bud:
No, it isn't the guns,
And it isn't the Huns --
It's the MUD,
      MUD,
        MUD.

It isn't the melee we mind.
That often is rather good fun.
It isn't the shrapnel we find
Obtrusive when rained by the ton;
It isn't the bounce of the bombs
That gives us a positive pain:
It's the strafing we get
When the weather is wet --
It's the RAIN,
      RAIN,
        RAIN.

It isn't because we lack grit
We shrink from the horrors of war.
We don't mind the battle a bit;
In fact that is what we are for;
It isn't the rum-jars and things
Make us wish we were back in the fold:
It's the fingers that freeze
In the boreal breeze --
It's the COLD,
      COLD,
        COLD.

Oh, the rain, the mud, and the cold,
The cold, the mud, and the rain;
With weather at zero it's hard for a hero
From language that's rude to refrain.
With porridgy muck to the knees,
With sky that's a-pouring a flood,
Sure the worst of our foes
Are the pains and the woes
Of the RAIN,
      the COLD,
        and the MUD.

It’s always moving to watch the memorial service at the cenotaph in London.

The German President laid a wreath at the memorial which I believe is the first time in history, though considering the anniversary it’s perfect in its symbolism.

The Guns, by Private Baldrick.

Boom, boom, boom, boom,
Boom, boom, boom.

Boom, boom, boom, boom,
Boom, boom, boom!

On a serious note.

Thank you to those who have served.

Go here and you can hear the guns go silent. People stopped dying for pools of water and blood amidst the mud.

Stench Of The Trenches, By Brian37 (Based on today's speech by Macron who was describing the horrors of war.)

The watermelon explodes
But it is not as such
But raging bayonets
Diplomacy dead in the trenches

Crimson pasta maker
In ribbons of limbs
Arms and legs
Litter the trenches

Sagan screams at us
Stop doing this
For we have a short time
On this speck of dust

We must, we must, we must
Avoid at all costs
The stench of the trenches
Least humanity be lost
