Movie Trailer heads up thread.

Geez, how dumb do you have to be to look forward to seeing this movie? Or to watch this trailer and to feel awe.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
I've been a fan of Godzilla since the early 1960s. I don't think he's anything deep or important, but he's fun. One person complained about the latest Godzilla movie. I had to reply.
"It says 'Godzilla' in the title. It says 'Monsters' in the title. Nobody is forcing you to watch it." RE: Movie Trailer heads up thread.

Sure, but was Hollywood's Godzilla ever fun? Can it ever be fun?

If you go in with the mindset that it won't be fun then I suggest you not waste your time or money. Prejudging any movie is not something I do.
Did you ever hear about the ultimate jihad? - Well, according to this "award-winning" movie it exists: "I get it. It's the ultimate jihad: eliminate Christianity by killing Jesus before the resurrection." It's the time-traveling jihadists.

This exactly. You get out of a film what you expect to get out of it. I've never seen a Godzilla film, but not because of a bias - it's just never come up. I'll prolly watch this latest one, though. From what I see even hardcore Godzilla fans were disappointed with Hollywood's take on the lizard monster from a few years back.

Not any of them. Hardcore fans of anything are the hardest ones to please, witness my opinions of LOTR and almost all Sherlock Holmes adaptations. Boru

The 1998 movie coined the term "GINO", Godzilla in Name Only. It was just a mutant lizard. That was born pregnant. And had it's spawning grounds on Manhattan Island. (The critter was from around Tahiti so the link was never explained.)
If they hadn't named it "Godzilla" it might have been acceptable to the kaiju fans. |
