KAFIR

"Kafir", the singular from"kuffar", in Arabic it is written "كافر" and "كفار", is a word avoided by modern Muslims to the degree of it losing its meaning.
It is treated as if it is a "curse"; but the meaning of the word has no relationship with cursing.
The word "Kafir" means "Unbeliever" in Arabic. You can check its meaning here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kafir
The meaning of the word is constant from ancient times to this day.
So when I call somebody "Kafir"; I am simply using an Arabic translation for the English word "unbeliever". Actually; most members on this forum are "Kuffar" or "Non-believers"; we can even translate its name to "Kafir Forum". It's a forum made and built by Kafir members who don't believe in God.
Isn't it insulting to Muslims, that they became so low and weak that they can't call an atheist or a non-believer for what they are: unbelievers/Kafirs ???
In formal Arabic, "KAFAR" which is the past tense from the verb of "Yakfur", is used to mean "rejection". So I am "A Kafir in nationalism" because I don't' believe in it; I rejected it. So as atheist; they "rejected" Islam; is it a shame to call them for what they themselves define themselves to be: Kuffar; non-believers??
It is funny and hypocritical to curse unbelievers with other Muslims, but shut up when a non-believer walks in.
As for how the Quran told a Muslim to deal with a peaceful "Kafir/non-believer" who didn't assault Muslims, it said:
Quote:https://quran.com/60/8-13?translations=20
Surah 60, The Quran:
Sahih International
(8) Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.
(9) Allah only forbids you from those who fight you because of religion and expel you from your homes and aid in your expulsion - [forbids] that you make allies of them. And whoever makes allies of them, then it is those who are the wrongdoers.
So by the order of God, which was stated in verse 8 sura 60, I treat the Kuffars who didn't expel me from my home or fight me for believing in God, justly and righteously.
But you are a Kafir if you don't believe in God; or in English you're a "non-believer".

It also means 'nigger'. Just thought you should know.

For the record, the equivelent of the "n word" is "زنجي Zenjy". Ancient Arabs used "Black Slave" instead of "Zenjy" though.
But Islam gave black people their rights through this famous verse:
Quote:https://quran.com/49/13?translations=
Sura 49, The Quran:
(13) O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

Talk to South Africans, then. 'Kafir' is a racial slur, the use of which is actionable under law.

A lot of people say that "you shouldn't use the word because you never know the state of somebody's faith"; but I think it is just an excuse to dodge famous verses in the Quran that say officially who a believer is, and a non-believer is.
Moreover if somebody is atheist, they are literally saying that they don't believe in anything, so that law is wrong in my opinion and needs revision.

I'm an atheist and I believe in a LOT of things, so you can take your opinion, fold it til it's nothing but corners, and shove it in your oubliette.
While you're about it, you should read the entire Wikipedia article you linked.

Opinion insertion hurts a lot; it can tear your anus too. So I dislike it and won't do it.
But you are an atheist, so you are defined by google to be:
Quote:atheist
/ˈeɪθɪɪst/
noun
noun: atheist; plural noun: atheists
a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods.
"he is a committed atheist"
synonyms:
non-believer, non-theist, disbeliever, unbeliever, heretic, sceptic, doubter, doubting Thomas, agnostic, infidel, irreligious person, heathen, pagan, freethinker, libertine, nihilist; More
AKA you're a Kaffir. I'm not that weak to avoid words that ring better than the others. Kaffir rhymes and rings better than the bulky "unbeliever".

I don't think you should either. Be awful to get a paper cut in such a tender area.

But nothing there says that atheists 'literally...don't believe in anything', which was your contention.
Quote:AKA you're a Kaffir.
You give the impression (and I sincerely hope I'm wrong about this) that you know the current meaning of 'kaffir' but are using the pretense of the historical meaning to give yourself a pass. This is like people who contend that 'nigger' isn't a vile, hateful word because it once meant 'Negro'.

But nothing there says that atheists 'literally...don't believe in anything', which was your contention. My very obvious context was speaking about the "religious" state; you can see this sentence for example from the OP:
Quote:AtlasS33 Said:

So; are you a "believer" in the existence of God or not? If you aren't a believer, or you rejected the message of Islam, you are an "unbeliever", or a "Kaffir".
How can anybody get around a bold statement like that?

I'm sticking to my OP; the evidence you provide is not sufficient to convince me.

This sentence is wrong.
It is more accurate to remove it.
